• Wohoo! Euphoria and depression, all in one week! Last week Ethernet was installed in my apartment, bringing 28.8Kb/s up to 10Mb/s... Sssssmokin'!!! I just can't believe the kind of throughput I can get at night! Downloaded Internet Explorer Beta 2 at roughly 4 seconds pr. megabyte... Now that is how things should be! Downloading Netscape 4.01 while listening to an ISDN Real Audio transmission limped along at 100KB/s. It somehow feels WRONG to get this kind of performance from my own house! Oh well, it is just for a month, then I'm outta here! (Sucks, really!)

• Have you ever turned on your computer just to find that half your drives are missing? I did yesterday. (Ain't technology grand!) I've got two harddrives, both WD. Yesterday all traces of my logical drives on the second HD were gone. 1.2GB blank, nothing there. All my applications, Internet stuff, email, games... (Yeah, all my email!) Windows 95 boots just fine, since it is on drive 1. Luckily it was still under warranty, so WD shipped a replacement drive to me today. Sadly then, the next week is going to be spent reconstruction and reinstalling a ton of stuff, or 1.1GB to be excact. Backed most of the data onto CD's a couple of months ago, but a lot has changed since then. (Incremental back-ups, anyone?)
