Webmaster's Corner
September 20, 1997
- Life has been a bit hectic lately. During the last couple of months I’ve lived through finals yet again
(for the last time), completed my university education, moved me and my family back to Europe, been
looking for work and gotten work. Hectic, but fun.
- A busy fall is ahead of us... Lots of excellent titles are on their way. BTW, what did you guys think of
the specs on Segas upcoming machine, Dural? Here are the basics, from Next Gen Online:
- CPU: Hitachi SH-4 200 MHz CPU
- GRAPHICS CHIP: PowerVR2 (Highlander)
- SOUND CHIP: Yamaha ARM7-based ASIC
- MAIN RAM: 8 Megabytes
- VIDEO/TEXTURE RAM: 8 Megabytes
- AUDIO RAM: 2 Megabytes
- CACHES: 8k instruction/16k data/128K CD ROM buffer
- MODEM: Modem card (possibly PCMCIA based)
- OUTPUT: VGA and 640x240 anti-aliased RF
- CD ROM: Custom dual format
- I’m pretty impressed! This certainly kills any console on the market today and ups the ante for Sony’s
still "non-existent" machine. Yep, Virtua Fighter 3 will be killer! All the stuff is more or less "faster" and "bigger", but
I especially liked their hybrid CD format and VGA output! A question still lingers with their choice of Windows CE
as the operation system... OK Sony, the ball is in your court, show us some numbers!
- With the intro of the new Dual Analog Pad from Sony, the confusion is almost complete when it comes to which
Analog titles work with which Analog controllers. I have a partly complete list, currently not listed on my Analog Games
page. I would like to get everybody’s feedback on what titles you have found work with which controllers. Everybody who
would like to contribute to solving this confusion can email their findings to analog@vidgames.com.
I will compile the info and add it to the analog compatible page. I’d appreciate any help in this matter.
- Are you guys hitting the ads? Keep this site alive, click’em! Thanks much!
- I’m always looking for reviews, if you have written some, please submit them to me. I will post them, assuming they are "readable" and not just one paragraph...
- Nils
