E3, LOS ANGELES, May 10, 1995 -- As Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA) officially enters the video game industry with its new CD-based game system, its presence will also extend into software publishing. Kileak: The DNA Imperative, a ga me currently available in Japan, is among the first titles scheduled to be published in the United States by SCEA in 1995.
Kileak is a first-person perspective, action/strategy game that allows a single player to explore fifteen levels. The date is: August 16, 2038. The place is the International Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) headquarters, Auckland, New Zealand. The objectiv e: the Byflos Conglomerate's South Pole-Observation Base. Your mission: to locate and, if possible, rescue an IPKF undercover agent whose last transmission originated from the Base. More importantly, you must identify the exact nature of the research being conducted there -- the subject of that transmission -- and if necessary, termination.
In this futuristic, 3-D environment, you must destroy opponents to gain power. Locate key cards to access doors, leading either to ID cards or elevators which will carry you down to the next level.
The ultimate goal of the search is to uncover the whereabouts of the sinister
Dr. Kim, who has stumbled onto a terrible DNA configuration. He holds the fate of mankind in his diabolical hands.
As you advance, the enemies become more maniacal and harder to kill and they are able to inflict more damage. Extra challenges include interactive puzzles, where matching levers or lights provides access to secret rooms. You'll need every ounce of skil l and strategic ingenuity to acquire the weapons, maps and data it takes to survive. But the most relentless enemy of all is...time.
"Kileak is a high-quality game. Bringing this title to the North American market demonstrates the synergy between SCEA and Sony Music Entertainment (Japan)," explained Clyde Grossman, vice president of software development for SCEA. "The launch of the PlayStation is truly a global effort."
