BATTLE ARENA TOSHINDEN TO KICK-OFF WITH
FALL LAUNCH OF SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT OF AMERICA'S PLAYSTATION

New SCEA published title to take advantage of hardware's 3-D graphics

E3, LOS ANGELES, May, 10, 1995 -- Would-be warriors can look forward to fall when the action title Battle Arena Toshinden makes its North American debut in conjunction with the introduction of Sony Computer Entertainment of America's (SCEA) PlayStat ion, the new next generation CD-based video game system. An unprecedented hit in Japan, Battle Arena Toshinden will be sold under the SCEA label.

Judged the number one fighting game by Game Players magazine, Battle Arena Toshinden is a pull-no-punches brawler that pits eight combatants such as the youthful samurai Eiji, wizened warrior Fo, or striking Sophia against each other. This cast of turbo -charged characters do battle with one another using an assortment of martial arts moves and punishing weaponry in a world of true 3-D graphics brought alive by the advanced features of the PlayStation.

"We're committed to offering software that really allows the power of our system to work its magic, and Battle Arena Toshinden is right on target," said Clyde Grossman, SCEA vice president. "Each game is an incredible canvas of some astoni shing creative talent."

Gamers will get their kicks -- and punches -- in an unparalleled environment thanks to the PlayStation's 360,000 polygons-per-second graphics power, realistic

texture-mapping, and "zero tolerance" of game slowdown. To further heighten the game's realism, game developers incorporated special graphic effects and a free-flowing "camera" technique to create what some critics are calling the mos t realistic, challenging fighting game ever created for a home system.

Flaming fireballs, power whips, spins, and double-fisted swordplay are just some of the arsenal competitors control to defy opponents. Kung-fu rolls and flying jump kicks also can be used to dispatch foes and move to the higher levels where savvy gamers can discover special moves and signature techniques unique to certain characters.
