A Multitude Of Hi-Tech, Deadly Vehicles --
In Twisted Metal, players choose from 12 high-tech vehicles armed with an arsenal of deadly weapons to combat opponents in five 3-D worlds. Vehicles range from ice cream trucks and motorcycles to taxis and police cars, and carry everything from advanced missile launchers to machine guns and flame throwers. A final ³boss² (enemy) vehicle must be destroyed before achieving the ultimate victory.
A one or two-player competitive video game, Twisted Metal has four playing perspectives, including POV (dashboard), a ³blimp view" and two third-person perspective views. In addition, Twisted Metal is the first PlayStation game to take advanta ge of the machine's combat cable. The combat cable allows two PlayStation owners to attach their systems and go head-to-head in the ultimate networked gaming experience.
³Twisted Metal is a Mad Max style combat vehicle game -- only bigger, better and more twisted,² said Peter Dille, director, marketing, Sony Imagesoft. ³Game players will be blown away by Twisted Metals high-quality graphics and fast -paced gameplay. Plus, using the combat cable, Twisted Metal shows off the PlayStation's capabilities like no other game.²
In Twisted Metal, the road to victory begins in an arena setting, where players must destroy an opponent's vehicle before going on to city and suburban environments. There are no distinct "levels" in the game, as players travel through smooth transitions from one environment to the next.
The storyline begins with a madman named Calypso holding a deadly contest on the streets of Los Angeles. To win the battle, all other cars in the competition must be destroyed. Each of the 12 different vehicles carries its own unique weaponry. Vehicle s include a semi-truck, a cab, a military vehicle, a police car, sports cars, an ice cream truck, a motorcycle, an off-road vehicle and others. In addition, full-motion ³reward² videos play after the final victory round.
