Alien Trilogy
Quick Review from the Net

Well... first of all... I should say that I've been quite vocal regarding
my dissapointment with Acclaim and Probe recently... but you've gotta give
credit where credit is due. At least now I know what Acclaim and Probe
were doing when they were programming MK2 for the Saturn (that was one of
the worst translations ever in my opinion). Anyway, here's a quick review.

THEME
Yep... another first-person perspective game. I know, I know... several of
you are thinking "Wolfstein, Doom, Doom 2, Heretic, Space Hulk, Killing
Time, Kings Field, etc., etc., etc. But this one really seems to capture
the best elements from each of those games and combines them into a single
game that excels in virtually every area.

GRAPHICS
Very Nice 3D Backgrounds and Characters... Less Pixelation than Doom, not
quite as good as Kings Field. The speed of the game is far superior to
Kings Field however. Little touches like steam misting through a corridor
and the incandescent glow of different colored lights add nice touches to
the game.

AUDIO
Great sound effect... straight from the movies (Alien, Aliens, etc.). Very
moody music also helps accentuate the atmosphere of the game. In certain
levels, there is some voice... on level three for example, when time is
running out, you'll hear that calm female "computer" voice warning "10
seconds remaining... all personal evacuate immediately" or something like
that. As with the graphical touches... the audio really adds to the
realism and atmosphere of the game. One MUCH appreciated feature is the
ability to set the SFX and music levels independently (I wish more games
offered this feature).

GAMEPLAY
Very smooth and easy to control. Aiming is very precise and becomes second
nature soon after beginning the game.

PRESENTATION
The best intro I've seen in a console videogame yet... Acclaim's motion
capture technology really shines in this game.

OVERALL
The best "Doom style" game I've ever played, and the best non-sports game
I've played on any 32-bit system (Playstation, Saturn, or 3DO).

I'm sure many would like more details... but it's 4:30 AM... I've gotta
get some sleep. On a scale of 1 - 100... I give Alien Trilogy a 95.
