Assault Rigs
Review from the Net
This game is, as far as I'm concerned, the best game out for the playstation, yet. All of the reviews I'd read on here seemed to dog it, but I have no complaints. You really just have to give yourself 10 minutes to play the game. It's super fun. All the comparisons I've read so far, thoguh, are completly wrong. If you need something to compare it to, I'd say Jumping Flash, but without all the jumping, and a cooler motif ;) I really like every aspect of the game. The menuing system is cool and has a lot of ambiance.. a real feel is created throughout the whole game (to me, this is what made Wipeout that much better than every game. Both wipeout and Assault rigs create a whole world for the game to act in, and everything abou the game is in that world.. it really makes me want to come back to the game, to "go abck into that world".. conceptual vr!) the gameplay mechanics are fantastic, and every time you go to a new level you're rewarded by new options, new tanks, new puzzles.. I love.. the difficulty level is just great.. it's like I have to try 3 or 4 times to beat the levels and each time I get closer and closer until I perfect it.. it's really everything I ask for in a game.. it keeps getting progressivly harder and harder, not just the enemies requiring more damage (ala loaded). This game really is a great model for games to come. Don't listen to that crap abou the graphics either - they're fantastic! They're not jumpy at all, and I haven't noticed any slowdown yet. Everything is incredibly detailed, and there are tons of perspective.. they ARE useful. the tank and crosshairs views are good for combat and close maneuvering, then there is a behind the tank view for cruiding around in bigger areas, then a close in top down view for whatever, and a high up top down view for moving around. the control is fab, the tank moves quickly and responsivly, and it didn't take me any time to elarn how to move it (but I did keep forgetting I had the glide.. now I can circle around an opponent as I shoot him, like I would in loaded). the music is also terrific! Great mix of different styles.. some techno, even a jungle song, plus some heshy guitar songs, it's really cool, and the enemies are rad, and the level desgin... it's rad, it's geat for one person, but it's also a party game because as you get more and more gems the level gets more and more stressful and everyone gets excited.. Summary: BUY IT.
