Jumping Flash 2
PlayStation Review from the Net

Just got the game, and I can't help but compare it to
Nights and Super Mario 64. (Both of which I haven't
played yet!)

First off, Jumping Flash 2 is too easy. If you simply
want to save MuuMuus and win the game, it won't take too
long. In one 3 hour sitting, I got to world 4-2 and quit
because I was getting too tired.

But, and here is where the comparison comes in...

Jumping Flash is a *charming* game. It is very cute.
I'm going back to all the previous worlds and am going
to take my time exploring. The graphics are very clean.
There is almost no visible clipping. (The "fog"
turns opaque at about clipping distance.) Each set of
worlds has a distict and imaginative style.

This game will have better replay value than the original
because of some of the obscure medals you can win, (like
finishing a world without firing a single shot), and the many
areas and secret passages that are easy to pass up the first
time through.

I believe that Nights and Mario 64 will provide more hours of
gameplay. But I don't think I'm missing a thing when it comes
to exploring new worlds full of style and potential. (Which
is one of the main selling points of Nights and Mario 64
in the first place.)

I'm happy with Jumping Flash 2, and recommend it to anyone
who can play it with a spirit of exploration.

*************************************************************

If you played Jumping Flash 1 then you've basically played Jumping Flash 2.
Same game, but a new set of levels.

The good thing is that the levels still retain that magical charm that is
typical of Japanese style games. You can still jump to astronomical heights
in the level, and watch as you fall hundreds of metres. Some slight
improvements include special underwater effects (very nice), rain (VERY nice),
and snow. Like number one the frame rate is acceptable, but not great. It
slows down quite a bit when looking at the whole level.

Unfortunately it still retains the same problems as part one: Too short and
too easy to beat. I don't even think finishing the entire game on one
continue would be a difficult challenge to the seasoned player. Bosses are a
pushover, and rarely do you ever die of losing all your health. Most deaths
occur due to bad jumps and falling into endless pits.

The music is fantastic, once again it has that same Japanese charm of part
one. The SFX are great too, especially the rain. Sometimes I like to turn
off the music and just listen to the ambient wind. It really feels like
you're outdoors.

JF2 is truly a fantastic game in every regard. Had it been more difficult,
and presented more levels, the mechanical rabbit would be the mascot of the
PSX, not the Bandicoot (I would like it that way too). Truthfully I have lots
more fun in an hour of JF2 than an hour of Crash. It's such a pity that they
made the game so short and so easy...

Overall: 8.5 / 10
