MK3
Review from the Net

I've been playing MK3 since it was out in Diversions in Chicago. And,
I've played the game OFTEN and a lot... so, what I may tell you in my
review may not mean anything to you, as it will probably get to some
more complex stuff.

First thing is first, this version is not perfect. It IS slightly
glitchy... like, for instance, when you're on the character select
screen. At first, your character won't show up on the side... but
after a couple seconds, it finally does. Also, when you pick your
character, it takes about a second to register. No big deal here...

Now, I'm only 15 years old... and frankly, music really means nothing
to me. The only two games that I have that I really even care to
listen to the music are Arc the Lad and Tekken... so, I'm not
even going to waste my time in the slighest with this.

To the gameplay... it's great. Smooth as can be... and, you know,
it's actually a little faster than the arcade. Pretty cool. :)
All the combos are still intact (except one, keep reading)...
even the complex corner combos (keep reading) and what have you.

Graphics are great... as stated before, there seems to be some
missing frames of animation, most noticably in Sheeva's winning
pose. The characters and character select screen seem A LITTLE
smaller than the arcade... no biggie.

Ok, fatalities? IMHO, fatalties mean nothing. I hate all of these
people who always wine and cry about either the lame fatalities,
or whatever... But, they ARE still in here... along with babalities,
friendships, and animalities. I can't guarantee that every
fatalities is like the arcade, but I'd say that it probably is.
I've done all of the fatalities and animalities that I've tried.
Now, just so you know, to do a fatalities, it seems that when
you're pressing the last direction before pushing the button, you
must do them almost simultaneously... so, in hindsight, if you're
having trouble doing a fatality, you'll get it. Oh yeah,
Stryker's animality has been changed... but, not much. I know,
I know, why did they change it? After all, it WAS the best
finishing move in the game... now, instead of the stop sign and
all the characters run by, I believe he whips out a stop sign
and a dog pulls a little red wagon pulling the babalities or
of Sindel and two others, or something to that effect.

Combos you say? Being that I am the master of combos (yes, Kung Lao
100%, Sub 100%, and more and more...), I'm pleased to tell you
that most every combo is still in there.

>From Sub's:

Freeze in the corner, jump kick, freeze, jump kick, roundhouse,
hop kick, ice clone, jump kick, roundhouse, uppercut...

To many others, they're in there... with one exception. Remember
Nightwolf's HK, HP, HP, Axe, ... combo? Well, they took it out! :(
You can't get the axe in... HOWEVER, the computer still can.
So, don't count on this working for you...

But still, there is the jump kick, high punch out of the corner
combo to whatever, they are there. MK players will be very pleased
with this version.

Endings are still the same... exactly the same. You even get the
Gods ending after you beat it on Warrior...

Hmmm, I think that's about it? Oh yeah, kombat codes are still there...
and they're ALL the same, I believe. I've done the vs. Smoke one
and the no throws, and they've worked for me.

Don't complain too much, people. This is a great version... and
no one, please, don't complain abot the millisecond (literally)
pause that there is before a fatality... only bad thing about
this game is the Shang Tsung morphs, and thinking about it,
that's NOT horrible.

Also, with combos, you can't get the Shang Tsung, ground fire,
jump back, ground fire, combo.. :(

Oh well, I think it's a fantastic game. Thumbs up... and if you'd
like to hear my information about secret characters and some other
stuff (no I've found nothing secret), check my next post.
