MLB Pennant Race
PlayStation Review from the Net

Let me start by saying that this is the best game in any game console. I
have read many reviews saying that World Series II (Saturn) and Triple Play
97 (Sony) are the best game in the market. I can see that the people who
wrote these articles have no idea of what a baseball game is supposed to
be. As a real baseball fan, I can assure you that this game has no rival.
Do you want to know why? Here are some reasons:

Game Play
All I can say is SMOOTH!!! It is unbeleiveable how easy you can move your
players around the field. The pitcher motion is as good as it can get. When
you swing the bat you get the sensation that your are watching a game on
T.V. The fielders motions are extremely real, and the dimensions of the
field and the size of the players give you enough time to make double
plays, diving catches, and steal bases.
Rating: +A

Statistics
The game keeps track of several statistics. You can check your players
stats during the game or in any other league screen. You can also see who
is the leader in homeruns, doubles, stolen bases, runs, etc...This option
is really nice because it looks very porfessional. In each category you
can check any player you want. For example. If you want to see how far is
Albert Bell from the Home Run leader, you can go down the list and see that
he has 34 homers and is the 12th player on the list.
Rating: +A

Options
This game lets you control many game options. You have 8 different camera
views. You can also determine if you want to watch the game behind the
plate or behind the pitcher. Also, you choose to set the camera behind the
pitcher when you are on the field and behind the catcher when you are
hitting. You also have the option to choose how many innings you want to
play. You can play in 3 different levels of difficulty depending on your
level of expertise. In addition, you can tell the computer to control some
other options like :
- Auto fielding
- Radar Gun
- Distance Meter
- Announcer
- Ball Marker
- Crowd noise
- Replay
Rating: +A

Uniform and logos
What can I say? They are beautiful. All the uniforms, home and away, are
just like the real team uniforms. No other game has done this. I mean it !!
The logos are just great. This makes the game even more real.
Rating: +++A

League
The league option is very good. However, You have to choose one team from
either league and stick with it until the end of the season. As I said
before, you can keep track of individual league leaders throughout the
season. At the end of the season you and the other divisional leaders go to
the paly offs anf the World Series.
Rating: -A

Home Run Derby
I really don't like any kind of Home Run derbies, but I guess that if you
like them, you will like this one.
You can choose any stadium and any players that you would like to see
competing against each other.
Rating: +B

Create and Trade Players
The game gives you the option to create several players of your choice and
give them different atributes.
This option is nice, but I still don't know how to change the skin color.
In addition, you can act as a GM and trade as many players as you want. You
can create your own All-Star team.
Rating: A

General Tips
- Always set the camera to be behind the home plate. The best batting view
is the one that lets you see that catcher after the swing. The best
fieldind view is the medium level view.
- The best difficulty level is the veteran. In the All-Star level you will
get frustrated. In the veteran level adjust some of the options to make the
game more interesting. For example, turn off auto-fielding, auto-sliding,
and ball marker.
- If you let the throwing button pressed, your fielder will throw the ball
harder.

Down Falls of this Game
- Home Runs are not exciting. The crowd does not show involvement with
Homers. (C)
- You can't choose to have two or more teams in the league option. ( -D)
- The fielders don't tag the runner when sliding on a base.(-F)
- Load times are huge.
- End-of-game screen is very simple.

In conclusion, I must tell you this is the best game ever. If you haven't
play World Series II, you won't miss anything. I think that World Series II
is mediocre game with lots of publicity. MLB Pennat Race is the game to
have. If you feel baseball as I do, you better get this game.
