The Raiden Project
Review from the Net

OK - got Raiden Project for the Sony Playstation. The game is yet
another stunner, following the path of quality after Ridge Racer and
Toshinden. You can play two versions: Raiden 1 or Raiden 2. Raiden 1 is
the original Raiden, which looks very nice considering it's a dated
shooter, while Raiden 2 packs a massive punch of sights, sounds and
detail. You'll sit there, basically in shock when you see how many
objects are on-screen at once. Large ships explode and fall to the
ground (scaling downward), and actually knockout structures while doing
so. Other enemy ships explode with dozens of tiny pieces flying about -
which rotate before they hit ground!

Explosion sounds are deafening - to the point that you'll jump
off the floor to run for your stereo's volume setting, and everything
runs at full speed - without any slow down. One particular weapon when
powered-up, looks like a glowing stream of lightning, that flows out
from your ship like a snake, and instantly wraps itself around each
enemy, creating these high-speed patterns of blue light above all
the chaos; you won't know where the heck to look first. There are screen
size options (e.g., arcade, panoramic, etc..), and two choices of
music which are "Original" and "Arrange" (Arrange sounds beefier).
In the later stages, when you reach the space portions, hundreds of
rotating asteroids fill the screen, one type is textured, others are
shaded rotating polygons. There are unlimited continues as this game
doesn't let you breath for a moment. Another winner!
