Resident Evil 2 Review by Mr. Grimm
--------------------------------------------------------------------

This is THE game of '98 so far. Toted as the most anticipated game
of the year (Already? Geez.), it doesn't dissapoint. If you're looking
for more Resident Evil goodness, open the door and step inside. They're
waiting...

GRAPHICS
Remember the blockbustin' graphics of the first game? Welcome to
number #2, where they're better. The same CGI backgrounds are here, and
almost seem a bit grainy to me. But now, animations such as fires and
ceiling fans are incorporated into the setting to give it a more
attached feel. However, the new animations are not computer generated,
just regular sprites, so don't expect pixilation not to pop up. The
great character graphics have been heightened with better looking
textures and additional polygons, and the zombies now have various
"skins": cop, punk, and regular-guy flavors among others. Add new
creatures, such as gators, and we're having fun. Absolutely no
slowdown, even with 9 or 10 zombies on screen. By the way, for those who
liked the door opening sequences of the first game, they're back. Damn
good stuff, if you ask me.

SCORE!: 10 out of 10 (spooky stuff!)

SOUND
The sound is crucial to this game. The haunting music and the
dragging feet of a nearby zombie always sent a chill down my spine. Now,
in additionial to more creepy music, there is new sounds for outdoors,
such as the wind howling and zombies groaning in the distance. And while
music makes things creepy, there is nothing worse than walking into a
room with complete silence. While you might not technically consider it
-sound-, these "music-less" rooms can really make you very tense and
anxious. The same footstep noises are back from the first game, and now
more attention was paid to what was being walked on. For instance, when
you walk over broken glass, it crunches. When you walk down a dark alley
in the open, it echos. Wooden floors knock. And the action sounds are
mighty fine, too. Gun sounds vary, as they should. The pistol "thunks",
the shotgun "crack-shk-shk"s and the zombies squish and drag. Perfect.

SKOR: 10 out of 10 (aiieee)

CONTROL
When there are 4 or 5 zombies coming after you, the last thing you
need is shoody controls, and running staight into the arms of a meat-
lover. No problem -- the controls are as tight as the first game. The
controls are EXACTLY the same as Resident Evil 1, except for the new
control scheme that lets you use the auto-aim button. This is good -- no
more difficult swiviling just to aim at a zombie. I can't really think
of anything really bad for this categorie, except for the fact that the
game doesn't use the new Analog controller. That would have been
awesome.

SCORE: 9 out of 10 (no analog support?)

REPLAYABILITY AND FUN FACTOR
Hang on tight, it's gonna be a fun ride. With two different
stories (A CD for each story! Yah!), one for Leon and one for Claire,
the boy cop and girl cop, respectivly, there's plenty of game time to go
around. For the fun part, I haven't quite finished the game yet, but I
assure you, this game is as spooky and full of fun as RE1. Don't look
anywhere else on the PSX shelves for bloody fun besides this game. Go
get some kicks.

SCORE: 9.75 out of 10 (Probably not "infinetly" replayable)-

Conclusion
Like The Playstation Galleria at VIDGAMES.COM saids,
"STAMPEDE!!!!". This game absolutely rocks the house. Go get some!

SOME FUN FACTS
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This game was delayed A LOT (Altho' it was suspose to come out at
May this year...). We're talking months. Not good stuff
They actually put up one of those "This Game has Explicit
Graphics" signs when you start up the game.
	Squishy.

This has been a GRIMM THINKING production
