Ridge Racer Revolution
Review from the Net
If your friend has a PS, don't hesitate of getting a link cable and linking RRR with him, I am sure you guys will have a lot of fun. I would say RRR is the best within all the linkable driving games (such as Need For Speed, Destruction Derby, and Wipeout). Because it is very smooth, there is no delay or slow down (which happens on Destruction Derby). The music and graphics is still very nice. The control is also very well. Other than that, if you link RRR, you can choose not only all the RRR tracks, but you can also choose all the tracks from RR(the previous version). Basically, if you link RRR with your friend, you can play all the tracks from RR and RRR. Other than that, you can play as mirror mode when you link with your friend. So that you and your friend will be on the same track, but different images. Besides, you can choose to race against your friend only, or race against your friends and computer. If you wanna choose the extra cars in the link mode (if you don't know how to access the extra cars, refer to the Hints/Cheats mode), you have to choos the one player mode(by choosing one player mode, don't hit anything as it counts down). Then you will be back to the normal screen. Load the extra cars, and exit to the Title Screen, and choose the 2 Player Link Mode again, and now you and your friends can choose the extra cars and even the Secret Cars. Also, there is a Handicapp Mode, if you choose to have it ON, the car behind will be faster. So, if your friend is ahead of you, your car will be faster to help you catching up with him. It seems not fair, but it makes the game a lot more exciting. One last thing, through the rear mirror, try to block your friend as he tries to get ahead of you. I am sure you will piss him off by blocking him a few times. Don't worry about being called "CHEAP" by your friend, it takes a lot of skills to do that, and sure it is fun; also it is a good practice as you need to block the Secret Cars in the future. I am sure you guys will enjoy linking RRR together. If not, email me. I think that's all I can say about Link Mode. Any question? you can e-mail me at lam@ee.rochester.edu Otto Lam
