....yeah, okay, now I'm addicted.  Once you get into the groove and start
to handle yourself better under pressure, this game really starts to
rock.  Now I no longer moisten my underwear at the mere sight of an
Enforcer.  I've been up to level 17, there are some nasty things
happening up there!  The game really has that Robotron "feel".  I think
this weekend is gonna have to be sacrificed to the game :-)

I found many new robot types, 3 way shot, 3 way plus mine, 2 way,
shield, speedup and extra life powerups... I like how if you die a
couple of times on the trot, you often get a chance to redeem yourself
immediately 'coz an extra man powerup will appear right when you rez
in.  I used the warpgate a couple of times - once it warped me up 5
levels (nice, thanks game) and once it warped me *back* one level into a
really bastard wave I had been relieved to get out of!  I dunno if there
really is some kind of "warp backwards" anti-bonus, or whether it was a
bug in the beta versh that I've got (the game crashed immediately after
I had finished the game where it did that).

Whatever - bottom line, if you are prepared to spend a couple of games
getting used to the 3Dness of it all, you are rewarded with some
blistering kick-ass gameplay.  If you're the kind of gamer who enjoys
kicking some major arse with a big fucking gun whilst racking up scores
like telephone numbers, this game is gonna make your day.  Good, solid
they-don't-make-'em-like-that-anymore kinda gameplay with some nice new
polygon tech, and a BIG fucking GUN. :-) Whenever I play I have that NIN
track with the lyric "me and my fucking gun" runnung through my head...
hehe...

I'll put a full review up on my website at the weekend (if I can stop
playing).  Right now, I am going to log off and play.

[A few hours later...]

Alright, now this is getting serious.  It's ten past 2 AM, I just racked
up 668,500 points and got to level 25, saw the killer bees bonus round,
kicked some major arse, dug the cool new floors that you get after level
20... my arse is numb and both my wrists ache from clutching my
joysticks.

Basically, Robotron X is the dog's bollocks.  Buy it immediately.  You
will not be disappointed.  Utter balls-out good old-fashioned
ultraviolence on a grand scale.  Buy 2 big joysticks as well, so you can
know true joy.  Pick up that 3-way and you're a one man ass-kickin'
machine.
