Time Crisis
Review from the Net

Let me start off by giving you the scores first. And then if you want
to read about the game, go ahead.

Let me just start off by saying that if you loved Time Crisis in the
Arcade, you'll absolutely love the home version. Now, Time Crisis in
the arcades was in Hi-res mode. Sadly, the port isn't. But you can
barely tell! Every so often a texture-map will get grainy, but you'll
be so wrapped up in this game, you probably won't even notice. There
are a lot of textures used in the arcade mode, but even more in the
Special mode ( which is a mission specially designed for the PlayStation
). So expect much, but don't expect too much. Just about everything in
the game is very smooth, and not blocky like Virtua Fighter and such.
The game runs at a smooth 30 fps. All in all it is a good translation.

In my opinion, this is where the game really excels. The music is
orchestrations and really enhances the mood. Even the options music is
great! Only a game as good as Time Crisis would have excellent options
menu music. So when you're shooting up bad guys you may want to pause
it for a second and take the time to realize how much effort was put
into the music. The music is better than Croc's, and Croc's was darn
good.

What's funner than ripping off a head or two in Mortal Kombat 4 or
blowing your friend(s) to a bloody snot in Bomberman 64? Shooting
things! If you are a fan of light gun games you'll enjoy this title
immensely! If you're not, you'll be hooked after playing Time Crisis!
With the option to play your standard Arcade mode ( which is a port of
the arcade) or the BRAND NEW Special mode. The Special mode is a whole
new mission for you to play. There are different bad guys and different
bosses. And if you beat certain areas in a certain time you get to go
to a completely different area than what you would if you just beat the
area. There are a lot of enemies to pick off in Time Crisis, so be
prepared to squeeze of more than a few rounds. Although the backgrounds
aren't AS interactive as in Die Hard 2 from the Die Hard Trilogy, the
can be busted up some. The bosses aren't too challenging in the Arcade
mode ( well that is after you've figured out their pattern ) , but in
Special mode be prepared to be frustrated. But overall this is the
epitome of light gun games. It's so revolutionary with the duck
feature. Instead of just standing out in the open you hide behind an
object, and then press and hold the duck button to step out ( or duck,
depending on how you set it ) to hop out into the open to fire off some
rounds. This brings light gun games to a whole new level, because you
can dodge the bullets now! And when you duck behind the object you
reload. Way cool. Another thing you'll have to contend with is time.
If you don't beat a certain area in the set amount of time you have,
well then you're dead. But cool nonetheless.

The replay value isn't quite up there. If you beat Arcade mode, you may
want to beat it over and over to get all of the skill points ( I don't
know what these do ), and with Special mode you'll probably want to find
ALL of the alternate routes AND beat it to get all the endings. And
then you've got timed mode which allows you to play a stage and try to
get the best time. You may spend a while trying to beat the insane #1
time. Other than that there isn't much. But for a light gun game they
sure did make a great effort. And it shows

Be prepared for the greatest light gun of all time. This gun not only
hooks up to your controller port, but also your video input, making this
gun accurate by one pixel. And if calibrated properly it rules. It's
gray instead of some neon color which makes it a #1 in my book, also.
Although there is only one game that supports it ( you're reading the
review for it my friend ) it still makes its mark ( no pun intended)

If you want to have a cool light gun game that will be fun for longer
than you can say Lethal Enforcers 3 billion times. And for $50 with the
light gun included you really can't go wrong. Well, thanks for taking
the time to read my review
