Twisted Metal
Review from the Net

I just got Twisted Metal at Babbages for $59.95. Although you
may consider this an expensive price for a Playstation game, believe
me it is definitely well worth the money. Although all the other
video game magazines called it a flop, I beg to differ...this game is
almost perfect!
The only disappointing feature here is the lack of a contest
in which both players can participate. By this I mean a mode where
it's you, a buddy, and a bunch of cars for a free-for-all brawl! That
would be cool. Too bad.
The good things about this game include 12 cars to choose
from, individual special weapons on each, and 5 different HUGE 3D
levels to compete in. And these levels are quite different from each
other unlike certain racing games( Ridge Racer!).
The game's graphics are arguable, but hey, a game needs more
than good graphics to be fun! There are digital explosions which look
great on my 27" Sony TV. I give it a 8 here.
The game's sound is also arguable, kinda corny sound effects,
but they still fit the game. The music is pretty cool...if you're
into that heavy metal/hard rock type of music. I give it an 8 here.
The game's playability is excellent, if not for Tekken, this
would undoubtbly be my favorite Playstation game. Definite 10 here.
The little bells and whistles such as the ability to have a
choice of difficulty levels with passwords(phew!) also help this game
a lot. 9 in the bells and whistles category.
And last, but not least, the fun factor. This game is
probably the funnest game I've ever played because it never gets
frustrating. Tekken can get frustrating at times, but in Twisted
Metal, if you loose you loose to more than one guy and it's more
innovative in the sense that you can replenish your energy and
weapons. I give this game a 10 here.
Overall, this game gets 9 because it would be perfect if it
had a two-player contest mode and some better graphics and sound.
Still the fun factor and playability pull it up a lot.
Just remember, these reviews should convince you to rent the
game reviewed, not go out and buy it right away. The best person who
knows what you like is yourself. In other words, don't buy the game
after reading this and then e-mail me with complaints.
