Remember a couple of years ago, when Destruction Derby came out? How the newsgroups were rampant with stories that the PlayStation was "maxxed out"? We knew better, of course. That said, however, I must say I'm continously impressed with what excellent programmers get out of the now aging hardware. With Gran Tourismo 2 months into development already, you realize that even now, almost three years after its release, there is still power untapped in the PS!
This game rocks! Simply put, it is the best racing sim/game on the PS and any other console.Hands down. The depth of this game is amazing. Not only do you start out with a used car (you go shopping for it...), you even have to take driving tests to be able to race in the big league. Win, earn money, buy better cars. Customize your car(s) for optimum performance. (150+ cars to choose from.)
When you start out, 4 tracks are available. 4 more become available later in the game. Choose from three difficulty levels. Play against your friend in some split-screen action. (Link for GT2?) Race yourself using ghost-data. Bonus items and rear-view mirror. Manual or automatic transmission. Play Arcade or Simulation mode.
The graphics in this game are astounding. Jawdropping. Superb. You've NEVER seen replays like this before. BTW, the replays become a key part in improving your driving skills. Don't get frustrated, try and try again!! Now, if I only could get my A license before the day is over...
